CARNAVAL DE CÓRDOBA
A popular festival on the rise, after its recovery. The Cordoba City Council organises a competition of comparsas and chirigotas, musical and vocal groups that have replaced the traditional murgas and estudiantinas from Cordoba; the comparsas and chirigotas usually have an original name, and their members wear a costume that is related to it. This festival ends on Piñata Sunday with a parade of floats, comparsas, chirigotas and masks that run through the streets of the city.
